I actually didn't meet Tanya and Vincent until their wedding day, but that's how a lot of destination weddings work. They are some of the kindest and most welcoming people I've come across. It's funny, because here in the South, us Yankees have a bad reputation of being rude and arrogant. Granted a lot of them might talk and act like they are straight out of the Sopranos or Jersey Shore, but that's not the majority.

An absolutely perfect day for a perfect couple. I love these guys and am extremely happy for them both. I've been lucky enough to photograph their engagement session and Jaime's bridal portraits. Congrats Jaime and Tamars and much love and happiness to you both!!!

The ceremony and reception were both held at the Cassique Golf Course in Kiawah, SC. I can't say enough good things about this venue. Not only is it beautiful, the staff was great. Everything ran very smoothly and a big part of that was due to the wedding coordinator, Cereatha, from CTO Bridal Consultants.

I had the pleasure of having the uber talented Valerie Schooling work with me for this wedding. While I was with the ladies, she helped me out photographing the guys.

I've known Camie and her family for a long time and was honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding. It was a perfect fall day with not a cloud in the sky and temps around 80 degrees. Perfect day for such a sweet couple. The wedding was in Harmony, NJ at a small little church. We then headed to The Grand Colonial in Hampton, NJ for the party. It was such a fun day, and I wish Camie and Tony all the Happiness in the world. Thanks Guys!

Lisa + Justin | Engagement Session Downtown Charleston & Sullivan's Island

After spending only a few hours with Lisa and Justin you can tell just how much they enjoy and adore each other. These two are super sweet and I'm glad I was able to shoot their engagement session. Quite honestly I was a little nervous to write this post. Justin and Lisa are both teachers and Justin teaches English. Great! Just my luck. My writing really isn't the best, but hopefully this post will get an A+ from Justin.

We started out on Queen St. in downtown Charleston and then headed over to Sullivan's Island. I know I've said it before, but downtown is an amazing location for sessions. The abundance of unique places ensures that every image is different. In closing, thank you Lisa and Justin for a fun shoot. Enjoy!!

Krystal + Scott - Citadel Wedding | Woodlands Inn Reception

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. J. Scott Porter!!! They live in Dallas, TX, but decided on Charleston as their wedding destination. I first met Scott at the Bridal show I did this past winter, and he stuck out like a sore thumb being only one of the handful of guys in the venue. It was himself and his dad strolling around the venue meeting all the vendors. He is either the sweetest guy on earth or was trying to earn some major brownie points.

They got married at the Chapel on the Citadel campus, where Scott is an alum. They then made their way to the Woodlands Inn in Summerville, SC for the reception.

Thank you guys for allowing me to capture your wedding. It was a blast and I wish you both much happiness and success in the future.

I had the pleasure of having Nick Gore as my sidekick for this wedding. While I was with Krystal, Nick was away getting shots of Scott, and his best man, his DAD. I think it's great when the grooms have such a strong bond with their fathers that they are the best man.

Tiffany and Jon Engagement Session - Mepkin Abbey, Moncks Corner, SC

Tiffany and Jon, thank you for a great session, you guys are great and a lot of fun. From what you're telling me, your wedding sounds like it's going to be a blast.

When I first moved down here to South Carolina, people asked me how I like the heat. I said, no biggie, I've dealt with 100 degree summers before in NJ, and they laughed. I now know why! It's not even summer yet and for Tiffany and Jon's session it was 95 degrees. Thanks guys for sweating it out with me.

Jon asked Tiffany to marry him at Mepkin Abbey, so they chose this beautiful location for their engagement shoot. Located on the Cooper River with views to die for I can see why they chose this location. If you've never been to Mepkin Abbey, I would suggest heading over there. It's very relaxing and beautiful to say the least. Ok enough banter, on to the images.

Jon is a huge bass fisher, ok that might be an understatement. During my conversation with Tiffany and Jon, they brought up they wanted to incorporate fishing into their shoot. Heck yea!! To bad we didn't catch anything,

Kimberly and Cot + Farm Engagement Session, Bonneau, SC

I think I found my new favorite location for sessions. I ventured out to Bonneau, SC for Kimberly and Cot's engagement session this past weekend. When I arrived at Cot's grandparent's farm, I really had no idea what to expect. But when I was told we had to take a short ride in the car to get to our locations, I knew it was going to be good. There were so many different spots that we could have spent the entire day there. And big thanks to Cot's cousin, Bill, for being my tour guide and helping out. Thank you guys for a fantastic time and endless ideas for images. Enjoy!

It was another wonderful fun filled engagement session in downtown Charleston, SC. I absolutely love shooting there, every corner you turn there is another photo opportunity. Alisha and Brette were a lot of fun, and actually nervous at the start. It's funny that each couple tells me at the end of the shoot that it wasn't what they expected and had a total blast doing it. Lindsey and Joel + ?? and Movie Theater Engagement session

These two wanted something a little different for their engagement session and what they had in mind was totally different. We visited an undisclosed location first, but I'm sure you guys can guess, we were doing the shoot Ninja mode. Then we headed to the IMAX movie theater in West Ashley. Lindsey and Joel are big movie fans, visiting this theater more than 18 times in 2010. I don't think I've been to the movies more than 18 times in my whole life. Jaime + Tamars - Engagement session Charleston Waterfront Park

We've had a lot of rain lately here in Charleston, but for this shoot mother nature was looking out for these guys. It must have been a gift to Tamars who agreed to do this shoot on Superbowl Sunday. What a guy, I know that earned him some brownie points with Jaime. Hope you guys made it to your party in time. These guys were amazing and super fun to photograph. We started out at the James Island County Park and then made our way to Waterfront Park in Downtown Charleston. Thank you Tamars and Jaime for the opportunity. Bridal Show - Charleston Wedding Photographer

Yesterday I attended my first Bridal Show in Charleston, SC. I had such a great time meeting all the brides, moms, aunts, and friends, weren't too many grooms. Oh yea, it's the playoffs and there was football on TV, that could have had something to do with it.. I'm honored to have met so many brides, their families, and great vendors in the Charleston area and can't wait to get to know some of you a little better!

So 2 days before the show I thought it might be a good idea to accommodate the brides with a little snack to keep their batteries going. So I stopped over and saw Jennifer at Twenty Six Divine on King St in Charleston and she was so gracious to put these little guys together for me in a day. I must say they were a hit and I wasn't surprised because they are delicious. So if you are in need of some awesome treats check out Jennifer.

And I have 2 humongous thank you's to give out. First is to Sue for allowing me to take over her garage for a while to build this booth, Thank You Sue. And Secondly, a big Thanks to Gary who devoted his whole weekend to help me set up and work my booth. I'm honored to call you both friends. Thank You! And of course one more, my wonderful wife for putting up with me the past couple of weeks preparing for the show, love you Hun.

Valla + David - Mount Pleasant, SC Wedding Photography

The other weekend I had the opportunity to shoot my first wedding in my new area, this one took place in Mt Pleasant, SC. Such a beautiful location looking out into the Charleston Harbor. I was told this property was one of many that would fight against the Union in the Battle for Fort Sumter by firing cannons across the harbor into Fort Sumter, which ultimately led to the Civil War. So much history here it's captivating and sorry for the history lesson.

A big thanks goes out to Mikkel from www.mikkelpaige.com for allowing me to second shoot this wonderful celebration. And also a huge Thank You and congratulations to Valla and David, I wish you guys all the love and happiness in the future. On to some of my favorites from this fabulous day.

Valla's dress was absolutely gorgeous!!

I adore first looks, it gives the couples some time to enjoy themselves alone before all the guests arrive. And it also gives the photographer some time to capture beautiful images. Just look at the love and happiness on David's face.

Baby Emma - Sneak Peek - Day 10

Dana + Brian - Engagement session - Long Branch, NJ

This couple is just beautiful inside and out and it shows in their images. These guys are great friends and I was absolutely delighted when they asked me to take their engagement photos. I'll miss you guys when I move. It's actually going to be weird attending their wedding as a guest, I guess I'll have to put on my Uncle Bob hat. The shoot started out with a little ride on the motorcycle, I'm still working on my panning technique but I think it's getting there.

Dana suggested a street in Deal, NJ that she absolutely loves with an awesome tree line and I couldn't have been happier with her choice.

Then since they live right across from the beach we ventured out there for the last part of the session. And of course we couldn't forget to include the other part of the family, Lola, their bulldog.

Miss Kylie - 6 month session

You might remember this doll from her newborn shoot, and I must say she's gotten even cuter. The session started out a little rough because there was this stranger in her house with this big camera trying to take picture. All she needed was a little nap, which gave her parents and I some time to catch up and chat. I'd say the nap was well worth. What do you think? Wedding - Long Branch, NJ = The Beginning

Many of you know that I recently started capturing weddings, but it all began with this one. A fantastic photographer named Sarah Postma was looking for a second shooter to help her out, so I jumped at the opportunity. Lucky me, Sarah liked my work and asked me to help out with some of her 2010 weddings. I'm so grateful to Sarah for allowing me the opportunity to tag along and for creating this passion I now have for weddings. Sarah will be relocating to Chicago this fall so if you need a photographer in Chicago, Sarah is your gal. Last weekend was Stacey and Justin's wedding and we couldn't have asked for better weather. The wedding took place at the Skyview Golf Club in Sparta, NJ, which is an absolutely beautiful venue. As much as I love shooting innocent little newborns, this session with Shama and Omair was just as much fun. It was nice to have clients that listen to your direction and do what you say and to just break away from the norm. And it helps that Shama had a little modeling background, sweet.

I had such an amazing time last weekend with these two. I knew it was going to be fun once they agreed to meet me at 6am in the morning...umm yea, I think they are more demented than I am. That's right....I love to shoot either early or late, because every photographer knows that this is when the golden hour occurs. It was more like the dull hour because it was a gloomy morning with a little rain, but they made the best of it. Well enjoy guys and I can't wait until the wedding.

Sneak Peek - Baby Mackenzie - Day 18

I absolutely love my clients. The best way to compliment any photographer is to have their work posted all over the clients house and this family did not let me down. Everywhere I looked, there was an image that I took from this session, Ashley's first birthday. I was doing some blog ~~stalking~~ catch-up over at Gray Photography . This is a husband and wife (Zach and Jody) team of photographers based out of Tennessee. These guys are absolutely sick photographers, definitely check out their work and their sweet workshops which I'm eyeing up.

I'm Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope it was filled with lots of food, fun, and happiness. On my way to the inlaws I got thinking. What am I thankful for? Sometimes I just don't think about it enough and let people know that you are thankful. So here is what I'm thankful for:

1) I'm thankful for my wife and 2 awesome kids. I could not ask for a better wife and mother to my children. Thank you for allowing me to chase a dream and possibly make it come true, and for being so supportive. Thank You Danielle, I love you. Here's a little headshot of her that I snapped today, what a beauty.

2) Now I can't forget my own mother. She is a strong women who is there for me whenever I need her, no questions asked. Thank you mom for being the best mother ever. And of course my sister, Amber, who helps us out whenever she can. Thank you both and I'm grateful to have you in my life

3) I'm thankful for a great group of clients. You guys are the best and I've had a blast working with every single one of you. I look forward to working with you in the future.

4) For fellow photographers that have given me great advice and actually reached out to help. There are so many photographers out there that don't want to help the new guy on the block because they feel he is competition. It was a brisk and sunny Sunday Morning in Lavallette, but the Heald family showed up ready to go. Tracy did a great job color coordinating the whole family all the way down to the shoes, the oufits just pop. Love it. I had a great time guys and it was good to see everyone.

Littlest Heroes - Max - Sneak Peek

I'm so proud to belong to the Littlest Heroes Project and was recently able to photograph one of these Little heroes. I've always wanted to give back in a way that would touch families and I think photography is one of those ways.

First, a little bit about the Project for those of you who have never heard about it. The Littlest Heroes Project is an effort to open the eyes of the world to a part of it that so many ignore or pretend (or don't even realize)exists. Photographers across the country are recording precious moments for families who, in many cases, have few moments left to spare and the photos that are taken will forever immortalize a child's battle with disease and sickness. The foundations website is currently under constructions but if you know anyone that is interested as a photographer or if you know a Little Hero, please bookmark this site and check back regularly.

Now about Max. Here is a short summary of Max's Journey in his parents words. "My yummy little boy, Max, suffered a bilateral stroke at birth. Doctors told us the worst: that he might never walk or talk. That he might have hearing or speech problems. That he could have mental retardation. Well, Max has defied the odds. He walks. He has words. He can see and hear just fine. And boy, is he bright. He has his challenges, but he is a miracle kid." He is a fantastic little guy who is full of life. He is truly a little blessing, miracle and True Hero! I'm honored to have had the opportunity to meet him and learn about his story.

Well I'm very pround to announce that we have a new member of Peter Miller Photography. My wife gave birth to a beautiful little boy on Tuesday 8/18/09, and his name is Jude. He weighed in at 7 pounds 1 ounce and 19.5 inches tall. She is an inspiration to so many and a hero to me, I'm very proud of her.

The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. This is our way of giving back and taking a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world.
If you have a child, or know a child, who suffers from any type of serious illness or life altering disability we are here to help. The Littlest Heroes Project provides you with a complimentary photo shoot for your hero and family.
